TC Palm Feature: Stuart Boat Show: It came from the sea — Ed’s Best Bets

ORIGINALLY POSTED BY TC PALM-“What makes this boat so special is you can drive it up on any beach 100 percent, that’s the most special thing about this boat,” said John Bishara, U.S. sales manager for Iguana Yachts, while preparing the Iguana 29 for the 42nd Annual Stuart Boat Show opening Friday January 15 through Sunday at the south end of the Old Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart. The carbon fiber boat, made in France, features a retractable track system which allows you to drive up on any beach. To see more photos, go to TCPalm.com. Let’s face it. Neither you, nor I, won the Powerball.

But at least we have something fun to do this weekend — we can both go to the Stuart Boat Show and dream as if we were big winners.

Each year, one of the most fun parts of attending the Stuart Boat Show is to see what the latest developments are in the marine industry. Most national brands set the Miami Boat Show in mid-February as the deadline to roll out new product for the boating year ahead, however, many with product ready to go in Miami, tend to roll it out in Stuart — a smaller, more comfortable show with a good percentage of buyers, according to feedback from past exhibitors.

Most boaters with a specific goal in mind can find what they are looking for among Stuart’s 190 exhibitors in about an hour, but those who take their time will be able to see some true gems in the Treasure Coast’s biggest and most comprehensive marine expo.

Here are my Top 10 (plus) Must See items at this year’s Stuart Boat Show, and as usual, I tossed in a little extra. (Editor’s note: These are in no particular order, except for No. 1, which is very cool, and on my personal list of things I will buy when I hit the next Powerball, along with a Triton Submarine and a hovercraft.)
